THE FINE PRINT —

This is an open call for artists for our next group show - please join us! We don’t know about the rest of you, but we’d love to be transported to literally anywhere else right now. We also know no one is immune from loss and grief and there’s plenty of that to go around right now too. You’re invited to either remember and honor someone or something important OR to transport us all to another dimension. We’re excited to organize the Altars & Portals show, opening in July of 2026 and remaining up through August.

ART DETAILS —

  • Your task is to create a dimensional altar or portal. Beyond this and our size requirements, everything else is up for interpretation!

  • Artwork may be up to 12” x 18” (or up to roughly 14 ½” x 14 ½” for square pieces).

    • You might consider starting with something like this or this but any surface can work and we’re hoping for all shapes and sizes!

  • Artwork must be at least 2” deep. We’re looking for dimension, people!

  • Artwork can hang on a wall or sit on a shelf or pedestal. We have a limited number of alternative display options, so please be in touch if your artwork needs to utilize one of these options.

PROCESS, PROMOTIONS & COST —

  • This show is free to participate in — no submission fee!

  • Artists will bring artwork to the gallery by the due date in order to facilitate a timely hanging for July First Friday.

  • Promotions include a website and newsletter listing, social media event and posts, & inclusion in Arts Council of the Valley First Fridays press release.

  • Artists are responsible for pricing their work.

  • Our standard gallery commission fees apply:

    • While artwork is exhibited at Frame Factory & Gallery, all sales must be coordinated by FFG. FFG retains a commission (20% opening night, 25% remainder of exhibit) for all sales to help cover exhibition/installation fees, promotion, and the opening reception. Artist payments (80/75% of purchase price) are disbursed on a monthly basis (i.e. a show that runs from January - February will receive payments for January sales on or by February 15th and February sales on or by March 15th) unless other arrangements have been made in advance and in writing.

IMPORTANT DATES —

  • June 27, 10am-4pm or June 30, 10-6 — Finished artwork and label info dropped off at Frame Factory & Gallery

  • July 3, 2026, 5-7pm — First Fridays Art Gallery Opening

  • September 1, 10am-6pm — Unsold artwork must be picked up from the gallery
